"Look carefully around you and recognize
the luminosity of souls.
Sit beside those who draw you to that."

"I came with many knots in my heart,
like the magician's rope.

You undid them all at once.
I see now the splendor of the student
and that of the teacher's art.

Love and this body sit inside your presence,
one demolished, the other drunk.
- Rumi

"Here one does not use logic to conquer chaos. Rather, one
uses logic because the logic itself is beauty, is truth. Plato
offers the amazing idea that contemplation of the way things
really are is, in itself, a purifying process that can bring
human beings into the only divinity there is.
- Jennifer Michael Hecht

"When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch
everything. The same is true of time. When you touch one
moment with deep awareness, you touch all moments.
- Thich Nhat Hanh

"Each moment, whatsoever you are doing, do it totally. Simple
things - taking a bath; take it totally, forget the whole world;
sitting, sit; walking, walk, above all don't wobble; sit under
the shower and let the whole existence fall on you. Be merged
with those beautiful drops of water falling on you. Small things:
cleaning house, preparing food, washing clothes, going for a morning
walk - do them totally, then there is no need for any meditation

books0977: Study for The Birthday Party (c.1929). Thomas Cooper Gotch (English, 1854-1931). Oil on canvas. Falmouth Art Gallery. The painting was probably inspired by the ballet-theme birthday party of Gotch’s granddaughter, who would have been 14 years of age on March 19, 1929. It demonstrates Gotch’s talent as a colourist in the treatment of artificial light and the fine transparency he painted into such illuminations.
